I've been cleaning out my fuel pump/lines/injectors etc after having some dirty fuel go through and when coming to put the fuel lines back on I thought I'd double check which lines connected where on the fuel rail, can anyone enlighten me as to which way round they go, pressure/return to top/bottom please?

I'm starting to feel that I may have had them on backwards as the SAAB WIS (workshop manual) makes it look like I've had it all wrong!!
Should my engine even have run if I'd gotten them backwards??

return is on the bottom of the rail towards the crank pulley end under the regulator. inlet is the banjo fitting down the gearbox end.

Cheers ash but both mine are at the same end, both barbs, with the fpr at the other (like below)



Except I've been running with the pressure line coming into the bottom of the rail (on the assumtion that it would have to pass the injectors on the bottom of the rail before the fuel got to the regulator?
The above pic is the same as in the SAAB WIS, and looks to be different to how I've got them.

well the regulator controls the return the inlet is just an opening to fill the rail if that makes sense. looking at that picture the line with the fuel filter has to be the feed.

its pretty simple to suss out. if the lines are on backwards it wont run because there will be no restriction on the return meaning there wont be any pressure on the rail :-)

i can understand your confusion, that pic shows the regulator on the line with the filter in......which is wrong! Filter would be in the feed line!
