Been making up my engine mounts over the past few days for the Zetec into the Striker. Pretty happy with the design, but happy to hear any comments. What I was unsure of was if the length of the offside one - it seems very long, but I can see no other way to set it out based on the chassis design. (Was specified as a Zetec from day one).

Its about 20-25cms long:



This is the Nearside one, only about 10cms.



Also made up a basic tubenotcher which is 'ok' - a bit tempremental, hence the the wood bracing to stop the drill bit kicking to one side. Result was pretty good though.

Well I welded them all up yesterday, and all seems well. Bonnet on I have about a cm of clearance, but virtually no movement when i try to rock the engine hopefully the clearance will be enough with the sort of movement il get with the engine running etc.
Just added them to my growing pile of things to be powder coated!

I took a slightly different approach (here), due to having a similar concern about one long mount.

Rather than using the original doughnuts I had, I went for bushes - it may be good or it may be too much like solid mounting and it's going to vibrate itself to death.

I really like the mounting arrangement you've gone for taking the outrigger down to the floor - similar technique for demountable roll-cages IIRC. If I'm right, then you've got a very strong approach, and no dodgy sheer-loads on your doughnut (ooo-er).

ALso, congrats on the tube notcher - I use software for it, but really wish I had one.
