I need to disconnect my propshaft from my gearbox to get the engine out. I can't get to is from below as the exhaust is in the way and I have a
morbid fear of being significantly under my car whilst applying force to it. From above, the connection is covered by the remote gearstick mount.
I've disconnected the four bolts holding it to the gearbox, and I've got the lever out. However, the shaft that connects the stick to the
gearbox is preventing me from getting any further. I can see a nut through a hole, but that just spins with the socket and doesn't undo. Does
anybody know how to get the remote off?
Hi,
My memory is very hazy on this one but I think the connection was some sort of ball and socket affair, I remember using some sort of prodding device
to reconnect them, try moving the gear stick and you should see it rotate and you should get a better idea of how they connect.
Sorry I can't be more helpful!
Dan
here are a couple of pics which hopefully show the mechanism underneath the remote - I couldn't remember how to separate it from the gearbox so i
resorted to the manual -
"remove the nut and pin which are used to connect the remote control shaft to the selector shaft"

This pic should show the nut that you can see - it is part of the main gearbox - there shoudld be a pin underneath which needs to be removed

So it looks like I need some sort of flat bladed screwdriver from the bottom....
Honestly i can't remember
I'll try and have a look if I get permission to step inside the garage today
Got the bugger off. It turns out that nut is a red herring; if you lift the remote up from the rear, the selector banjo pops off the bottom
