what direction do shoguns turn?
Mr Whippy - 18/7/12 at 12:30 PM

Hi

Any one know which direction a shogun mk 2 diesel engine rotates? It’s because I want to fit a shogun power steering pump in my old landy and just want to check it turns the same direction

Wonder how often engines do rotate different directions or are they all a standard direction??? never thought about it tbh

Thanks

I've never seen a car engine that rotates differently, but American aero engines rotate in the opposite direction to ours.

Well rather famously Honda engines used to turn the 'wrong way' until recently. Hence the reason the older Honda engines are never used in kitcars.

yeah, my old Triumph Acclaim (aka Honda Ballade) had one of those. Pretty rare TBH

ah so I can then assume it will be turning the same way, ok

we'll see

cheers

reminds me of that psot where the guy thought his engine goes backwards when the cars put in reverse, oh that was so funny

Mine went the same way, so you've know problems.

Some two stroke microcars did run the engine backwards so that they could reverse!

nice thanks I've just ordered the pump, not many these days use a v-belt

many of my model plane engines would often run backwards when started but with much reduced performance

The Dolphin Yacht Auxiliary engine does this, i.e. in order to go backwards you have to stop the engine and start it in reverse.

The engine was originally designed as an air cooled unit for use in the small Berkeley 3 wheeler car and later in a motor cycle scrambles machine

It was designed by Colin Chapmans brother, a Mr David Chapman !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
