Can anyone tell me approximately what the angle is of the face that the inlet manifold bolts on to? iirc they are not vertical?

I think it's 27 degrees, depending which way you measure it. This is because I had to order a 27 degree manifold for my vertically mounted C20XE, when I'd originally been given a 34 degree one (which I believe is for the engines mounted at 7 degrees).
