Clutch Cable
Daddylonglegs - 9/9/12 at 08:57 PM

I am looking to replace my clutch cable as it is a little too short and running close to the exhaust manifold. When the car gets hot in town etc. the clutch pedal starts to bind and I am worried that it will prematurely wear the cable. When the car gets some air through the front and cools down a bit the cable eases off again. The cable also has a radius by the box which I feel is a little too small, so that won't help either. As a stop-cap I have wrapped the cable in foil and exhaust wrap but think it best if I replace the cable with a longer one to run a different route.

It is the same type as the Capri, and Mk2 escort and having looked on Burton Power they have lots to choose from. But my proble is knowing which cable to get?

They quote cable lengths on the site, but is that total cable length or just outer sheath length?

Any help appreciated guys

Capri or Escort cable, is it the one with manual adjustment ?
I used the Cosworth 2WD one on my Sierra pedal box, it loops round the manifold.
Outer cable was shorter so packed it out with washers
Measure your cable outer and inner and compare with what Burtons have also you can give them a ring and ask, they don't bite

Yep, it's the one with the threaded adjustment at the gearbox end (I think this one was for the Capri). I have measured the cable inner and outer but Burton don't say what length they are quoting in the catalogue, so I guess I'll give them a bell.
