Ford s max piston rings help

Hi all

Need to replace my piston rings on the wifes ford s max 1.8 tdci 56 plate

But cannot find anywhere to get them other than ford, anyone have any ideas as ford want lots of ££££ ie 180 of them for a ring set seems expensive,

Not the rings,

But big ends gone so want to replace the rings at same time,

If it ain't broke don't fix it, putting new rings into well worn bores even with proper preparation of the bores is more likely to cause problems than if the existing serviceable pistons rings are left undisturbed.d

If the big ends have failed do the sensible thing patch it up and get rid of it quick.

If big ends are knackered in a modern engine..crankshaft would also be toast, No?

hi crank is servicable with a re ground.

Was thankfull that the shims just wore down,

so bore no4 only,

so will replace as rod all ok been checked and measured by specialist,

but though to hone the bores and fit new rings?

but if leave alone is the concensous i poss will?

ps car ran but had a knocking noise which turned out to be end wear
