Am planning on having my supercharged zetec engine sat as far back as humanly possible preferebly far back enough so i dont have to use a linkage extender (bout 12" has any one done this and come across something that would make it impossible. Any tips/advice appreciated

The problem you will have is foot pedal room, if you jink it over to one side you can pull back further.

When I built my blade engined car I shorterned the passenger footwell to move things back.

In my instance I made the driver footwell a little wider as well.

Downside, the exhaust gets shorter so you may want to extend it out the back.

I,ve never had a problem with this when a passenger but the car only goes around tracks these days.

NB racers will have engines alongside them, you need two seats for most track days so you could yank a long way back and ignore passengers feet if you are after really big gains

Look at a Mallock, the engine is pulled a long way back.

I should also add that the first Zil Sylva had the zetec mounted way way back compared to a Locost.
In mine you couldn't see any of the bellhousing.
The engine was right up against the bulkhead and the standard tpye 9 gearlever came through the tunnel where the standard Sylva cutout is for a Xflow.
Just right where you'd want it to be.

Had considerd pedal room was gunna have the chassis taperd so iv got more room at the top (am going to mak mi own pedal box neways) not taken exhaust placement into consideration tho will have to consult my boss bout that one

yea had a little measure and the engine would idealy have to come inside the bulkhead by 2-3 inches. it is eventually goin on track so all this fooking about will pay off. Untill i end up in the tyres lol

I moved mine over into the passanger side by 3/4" to get it back more.

Striker is a small chassis, so engine sits back naturally far and doesnt need an extender.
Its well over to the passenger side on the striker, but that should (hopefully) aid left right weight imbalance with me in place. (diaganol balance is an easier dial out)

i think mine started life as a ron champion locost and got modified from there. long way to go yet tho.
