I am going to use a sierra as a donor car, what models are best? Also thinking about different engines what is the fiesta 1.6 RS Turbo like to put into the rolling chassis made with all parts from sierra (such as mt75 or type 9 etc)? also the same with 16v 2.0 vaux
the fezzie 1.6 turbo is cvh and pretty tunable
loads of bits out there for it and cheap enough
my mate has a RST engine in his escort pushing out well over 230bhp
the cvh will bolt straight onto almost any ford gearbox
as for vauxhalls i aint got a clue
read some of the replies to my previous vaux posts for info on them
ANOTHER 230hp RST ?
When was the last time anyone heard someone say "Oh my RST had 130hp as standard when it was new, its probably running 120 or so now" ?
Everyone claims 230hp ! Does the rattly old CVH just keep on knocking out more power as it ages if it uses forced induction ? Do they mature well like
a bottle of posh plonk ? Has anyone ever seen a dyno print out to prove it ? These questions and many more besides won't be answered by me, ever
PS Saw an RST earlier, not my cup of tea at all but it honestly looked like it'd just been driven out of the showroom. These RS nutters take it a bit
seriously don't they ?
as far as ive been able to find out 230 is only poss with the 2l conversion with the mix sand match of 1.8 crank and diesal rods or use the zvh
conversion
so 230 outta a 2l aint that immpressive
Its the fact that they claim 230 thats all, why 230 ? has it some special significance ?
To tell you the truth I was talking to a young family member who was telling me about his mates 230hp RST..
He also told me that his other mate has a Pug diesel (mechanical inj) that;
a) Runs twice as far on a gallon of red diesel than it does on white.
b) Has has a "chip" fitted for more power.
c) Has a "dump valve" fitted.
I tried explaining that;
a) Red diesel is normal diesel with dye added, theres no extra energy in it, and certainly not twice as much, if there was it wouldn't be diesel fuel
anymore
b) A chip fitted where exactly ?
c) To dump what ? Theres no throttle on a diesel, they run WOT all the time therefore theres nothing to dump.
After 1-2 minutes "discussion" where he wasn't willing to even consider my points I just walked away, theres no way you can argue with someone who
knows that little about engines... ;(
PS It turns out he does have a "dump valve" fitted, well a little speaker under the bonnet that goes "PSSHHHHTTT", yup, they actually make a pretend
dump valve........
more importantly.....
does he have 10 quid gold plated fuses for his stereo and special expensive speaker wires?
Stereos sound crap without those esentials.
I think the nutsack word comes up again
