a mate of mine is looking to build his avon using a zetec, originally he was going to look at alpha set up from webcon, however a bit of a budget
rethink has made bike carbs the fave option,
bit of research shows zx6r carbs are the best suited and fastdan can provide a manifold easy enough but where does he stand with the Iva running a
late zetec on carbs ?
i read about fitting a cat but obviously the fueling cant be altered by ecu so there wouldnt be the need for a lambda sensor except to aid set up,
a bit of guidance would help here guys im oldskool pinto and twin dcoes on my kit so i cant help him here.
and if anyone can point us at a cat that would suit that would be great,
Carl
get it running with a CVH then dump straight after IVA. Its a bit of pain but you always need another project afte IVA and a couple of months of
driving.
I might have a steering column btw
Whats he doing for ignition ? as that will also affect emisisons.
If the engine he is taking for iva is post aug 1995 then it will need a cat. You also need to meet the stricter emissions but that is not as simple as
tunning it for one test at one set rpm as you have lambda co ect ect.
Some will tell you it can be done with air bleed valves and other tricks. I say it cant and ive yet to see some one post up to to say thay have done
it.
What is his total budget to get it running and what sort of space has he got for the manifold ? The standard zetec ecu runing the full fuel injection
will pass just as it would in a mondeo or focus. And I have done a mates car and seen it through iva so I am not just guessing.
Hows your mate with wiring ? as its ultra budget if he does the job himself. If he is looking to just buy somthing and not do the work, give me a
shout......
You know where I am if you want a demo one running.
