mark chandler - 12/12/12 at 09:51 PM

Camshaft

Steve - 12/12/12 at 10:00 PM

What about bike carbs could they go on to

steve m - 12/12/12 at 10:03 PM

Upgrade to a 1700 stage 3 crossflow

A 1300 in any form, will omly beat some family hatchback off the lights
trust me, ive been there!!

snapper - 12/12/12 at 10:08 PM

1100 pistons will up compression in the same way 1300 pistons in 1600 work

Steve - 12/12/12 at 10:10 PM

Haven't got an engine yet. its got a type 9 gear box. It had a 1600 xflow in t before I bought it, but I'm on a budget to get it finished for its iva.

mangogrooveworkshop - 12/12/12 at 10:12 PM

best mod is a zetec

Steve - 12/12/12 at 10:31 PM

If I go for zetec what year can go with before having to fit a cat??

mark chandler - 12/12/12 at 10:31 PM

Drop in a £50 cross flow and IVA, do nothing to it.

Once passed IVA with minimal emissions put in something with a bit of poke.

Steve - 12/12/12 at 10:51 PM

Where do I get a x flow for £50??? Cheapest I've found so far is £150 + £70 postage

''best mod is a zetec''
Beat me to it.
I got a 1300 gt with gearbox, both manifolds, dgv carb, itg filter,Valencia ignition and type 2 gearbox for 70 quid so there are some bargains out there. The advantage of putting the crossflow in first is that after iva u can then put any age zetec in you like without a cat etc. Also it's probably worth having a lot less power than the zetec while u get used to the car.

Its 1995, either March or May from memory.

Got a perfect 1994 2 litre in the garage waiting for a project. Cannot be many left now.

1100 rods
forged pistons
Chambered head
ported and polished head
A6 cam
polestar ecu
ARP bolts all round

Then have the whole thing ballanced.

Good for around 135/140 bhp

See below for what is possible, depth of pocket dependant

Anthony Denham 'Doris' Classic Clubmans / Ford 1300 OHV 146 bhp @7000

Cliff Robertson Tasmin Classic Clubmans / Ford 1300 OHV 148 bhp @7000

johnemms - 13/12/12 at 01:03 PM

My IVA'd crossflow emissions are 'nil - view only'

I used a 1970's escort log book

Also get to use black n silver number plates!

D Beddows - 13/12/12 at 01:49 PM

Not sure you actually can legally use black and silver number plates unless you actually built your car before 1973 - age related registrations are different I seem to recall......... I could be wrong though

Don't forget solid rocker posts, stop the nasty tapping, and lighten the fly wheel.
