1.8 CVH Engine mounts
Simon - 24/9/02 at 03:19 PM

Chaps,

I forgot to remove engine mounting rubbers for my engine when dismantling donor.

Just had a quote of £51 - EACH for new ones.

Bearing in mind I can make up something in steel for them to rest on, that isn't necessarily in the same place as Sierra front subframe, can anyone suggest cheaper alternative (using donor's ally mounts.

Perhaps Cortina?

Thanks

ATB

or buying a couple of rubber donuts, and make the rest yourself, under a tenner all in.

are sierra ones not a brave lump of a thing compared to the escort/cortina/capri donut any way

I think sierra ones are like the granada v6 ones......examples and mounts to chassis and engine are in my pics section.

Perhaps a local breakers might have a car thats had the engine out.....and the rubbers still in....

If you can avoid the Sierra mounts (alloy bits included) then so much the better as they're massively bulky! I'd have thought the mounts would be too far apart aswell.

The MKIndy uses square rubber mounts about 70mm by 50mm square by 25mm deep/thick. I'm pretty sure someone said they're Landrover mounts although I maybe mistaken. With a custom metal mount going diagonally downward from the engine to the rubber aswell they're what I'm planning to use for my Pinto.
