I have recently bought a westy exhaust manifold off a member here, got the advice that they will fit an MK indy chassis. Which i'm sure they will
if the clever ones on here say so! But my chassis is a mix'n'match of westy and mk indy (westy rear and mk indy front). I bought it off
someone a couple of years back and understand why they sold it, it as a oversized pain in the ass!!
Anyway, back to the original point... the manifold will not fit in my car, the underside of the pipe touch against the chassis when the engine is in
place. if they were further out by about 3-5mm it would clear, only marginal difference.
Could I extend the pipes? Either by by getting a thicker plate welded on which bolts to the block or another method? Or is it simply a case that my
pipe is too small?!
Also, do you need a certain amount of clearance from the side panels so that they don't melt?
Cheers,
Post a picture, probably easier to see whats up.
Not 100% sure of you exact problem but could you space it off the head with a dummy flange plate and additional gasket if manifold studs are long
enough like this?

I have attached a crude diagram on this link

If I were to put a dummy flange would I simply sandwich it between two gaskets?
Cheers,

Yes mine is just a home made spacer cut out of a 6mm piece of Ali with gasket to both sides

thanks - will order some. I am not going to get to the car for about 2 weeks now can you remember a rough width of the flange by chance?
Isnt there someone on here who will water cut flanges ?
Plenty of places offer manifold flanges for DIY'ers. Heres one.

I would allow for a little more clearance. If it just clears by a mm it will surely touch from time to time due to engine movement?
