Can I swap my rear calipers left to right?

My rear calipers have been mounted upside down, thus causing the bleed nipple to be at the bottom, and a bugger to bleed... can I not just flip them left to right, so they're at the top - and also, will the handbrake cable still operate OK?

Car is an original 2006 MK Indy, not R, nor RR.

Yes you can, it will put them the correct way up.

There may be a reason that they are like that though, which I bet is that the handbrake cable clashes with the lower wishbone when they are the correct way up. I had this same issue.

If you need to keep them upside down the way to bleed then is to undo the bolt in the lower slider and then rotate them around the upper slider so they are the right way up, then make a piece of wood to fit between the pads so that the piston doesn't move when you bleed it. Once bleed just remove wood, drop back down and put the bolt back in.

Cheers DDD, this is how I have been bleeding them actually lol just becomes a bit of a chore...

I feared it had something to do with the handbrake cable and routing...

You can but to get a decent curve on the cable it would have to be dragging on the floor.

Chore? how often do you need to bleed the brakes? once a year to change the fluid should be enough.

the calipers are designed to run on the top of the wheel, not on the side. changing sides will not work.

Hence my hesitation Ben... the handbrake cable will drag along the floor!
