am occasionally hearing a slight noise (crunch) on my volvo s60 D5 auto. only ever happens between 1st an second gear and is usually only the 1st
change between those 2 gears. ie if i set off on a drive it will do it when i leave my house ( but not when i go from park to reverse to get out of
the parking space) but if i stop at a junction after driving a while and pull away,no problem. park up set off again,1st gearchange crunch?
any ideas?
ISTR an Alsin (Asian-Warner) transission I don't know much about them which probably means they are considered reliable but a fluid change & level check may do the trick.
hmmm aw boxes , could be loads of things .
they do have a relay pack , which can always go wrong . as above fluid change might cure it . the relay pack i believe is available from the dealers
but not much else is , so if it isnt electrical , its normally swap out time .
my old man had his rebuilt - the clutch packs do wear out , and that normally is an exchange box . is there anything showing on the gearbox fault
codes ?
thanks guys and no waring lights.
is there an easy way to flush out the fluid and re fill? as ive heard its not straight forward to flush the system completely
On the SAAB the recommended DIY method is to run through two or three changes of fluid i.e buy three or four times the amount of fluid the system
requires and run one lot through before draining and discarding the fluid once it has been run through.
The link below should help but ensure you are carrying out the correct procedure for the car in question - visit the Volvo enthusiasts website forum.
SAAB linky
Certainly not very difficult - just a bit tedious.
