can anyone tell me what bhp they have achieved and using what route on a zetec 1.8 / 2.0. I am using a 1.8 (with 130 cams)and considering ;
twin webers (probable)
throttle bodies (expense)
plenum kit by ykc / trust electrical (cheaper)
all above with new engine management systems.
basically i am interested in comparing BHP against ££££'S and thus decide my bestaffordable route !
Just to comment,Toyota 20 valves come with throttle bodies as standard,sadly they still need expensive EMS.
Just my twopenneth,which you can put towards your throttle bodies!
I think Westfield quote 155BHP for 1.8 on webers, 2.0 seems to give a little more at 165BHP on carbs. I was quoted 175 on Jenvey TBs (45mm) at a
rolling road...
I would check out the cost of TBs and ECU as I don't think the cost will be a lot more than if you had to buy new carbs (which still need an
ECU). Also the carbs will take more setting up to work well and the mid range power will not be as good as with injection as the carbs are not as
flexible.
I'll get shot down in flames for this but I don't think I would go back to carbs after fitting injection it's a lot easier to work on
and gives hassle free tuning. Saw a recent article that said that the problem with lumpy tuned engines in the past was mainly due to the carbs being
unable to match the engines requirements, where as injection can be set up to match the requirements.
