CLUTCH STUCK ON

So im making headway on getting the Midtec back on the road,

Next job is to sort the stuck on clutch

Any advice on how to get it off?

get it up on axle stands, make sure its secure, start it up, give it some beans then slam the anchors on............best of luck. make sure you got a video for you've been framed, £250 and you could build a new car from the proceeds !!!

I had the same problem on my landy. Easy fix was outside hose onto the hot tap, flooded the bell hosing with HOT water. Just came unstuck without video intervention

Put it in gear, put the clutch down and out the other foot hard on the brakes and flick the starter.

Never thought of that, would want to give it a drive afterwords to spin the water off so the clutch didn't rust from being wet

Hmm then it's the starter that takes all the load, not sure most are up to the task

Easiest on the car is just running the car with one rear wheel in the air, getting some speed up, put the clutch in and slam the brakes on. Always works.

Rusty Land Rover? Never the rear crank seal leaks too much for that!

It's worked for me in the past with no subsequent starter issues.

Jacking up the cars driven wheels, running the engine at medium RPM in a high gear and slamming on the brakes usually works.

Clear the area in front of car.

Jack up driven wheels, and start car, press clutch to floor.

Drop car off jack and brake before it hits anything.

Always worked on the Escorts I had.

just a thought..
if you have an inspection hole or similar on the bell housing..
get someone to press the clutch down ..
then insert a thin blade to separate the plate..

Start and run the car (for a good while) in neutral until you get some warmth into the flywheel. switch off, put in second gear with handbrake on and chock wheels. WITH THE CLUTCH DOWN, blip starter a few times until it frees. (don't mule the starter or allow it to start and take off into the garage wall obviously )
