had another couple of issues today on track at oulton park.
i was flat out entering into a section of corners when i heard what sounded like a huge crunch from the engine and vibration through the chassis.i lost all drive and pulled onto the grass (red flagged)
when i got back to pits i realised i had stupidly run out of fuel i stuck 5 litres in and it started fine and ran fine at idle. i then drove around the paddock to make sure no damage was done and noticed the vibrations really badly.
further investigation showed all the sprocket adaptor-prop bolts were loose and the rubber on the split prop u/j had pretty much perished,causing massive ammounts of play in the prop! so
1;could i have caused any serious damage by running engine with no fuel?
2;would you guys thing the prop bolts loosened first,damaging the rubber or vise-versa?
3;are the baily morris split props a standard item? and therefore the part im looking for be readily available
cheers guys! and apart from that i had a great day and got faster and faster as the day went on
still some very quick cars on track. i cant belive how fast the radicals are.seriously quick!

No danger of damaging the engine running out of fuel, worst case will be a load of dirty fuel dragged into the filters, pump and carbs.

Prop bolts need doing up tightly with lock tight, do not reuse nyloc nuts and use fine pitch high tensile bolts. They also need regular checks, if the rubbers perished its probably age and sunlight, very unlightly that a few minutes of loose bolts would cause any harm, these are designed to last 15 years under a car.

its the clamping rubber on the center u/j which seems to have shat itself inside the trans tunnel.not sure if perished,worn,damaged but there is massive play in it now!

Ring up Bailey Morris, they would prefer too discuss it with you personally as I believe they value their customers.

i could do but as i didnt buy the prop.(it came on the car) i thought id try here first at this time of night. ill call them tomorrow

How did you find Oulton?

really realy enjoyed it mate. one of or possibly my favourite track!
started out quite tentative and slow as its only my second track day and second time in the fury. was getting passed by most cars on track. but by the end of the day i did a 10 lap stint and the only cars which passed me were radicals which were unbelievably quick.
i do have a lot to learn but the cones and markers really helped me position myself on track and by the end i was reasonably quick.
around the really tight sections i was as fast as anything as the race chassis really performed well considering i only have 128 bhp

It's a great track and very hard to master. Stringing a good lap together isn't easy and there's a couple of places I know I've never got right.
