ST170 engine number... Urgent help required..
Dave Bailey - 27/6/13 at 05:29 PM

I have booked my IVA test and sent off to Ford to get written confirmation of engine year.... They have written back stating engine number not recognised and told me to check again... The problem is that the number looks correct with some confusion over the last digit.. Does anyone have an st170 number that they could verify my format.... ALDA3Y70135E with the last digit being the one that is particularly in question.

Thanks
Dave B

It is my understanding that any ST170 engine falls in the strict emissions category as its 2002 onwards. So having a letter or not won't change the emissions testing at IVA. You'll only need a letter to get a more lenient test.

As above, for the age of your engine the letter is irrelevant.

But...

The format is...

The engine code, the year and the engine number (five numbers) The digit you have extra is just a symbol to stop you adding numbers.

Ie ALDA 2Y12345 (looks like an E but not)

Thanks guys...

I have put the E on the vin plate so looks like I will have to do another.....

Could you not box it and make it look like an over square 8 and put another in front of the VIN number Say you are copying the same idea to stop extra numbers?

Perhaps not, if you have chance to redo it.
