Zetec flywheels......
ianm67 - 28/6/13 at 09:51 AM

Hello chaps,
I need to get a flywheel for the Zetec engine that is sat in my garage. I will be mating it to a T9 'box and have been advised that i should be looking for a flywheel from a 1.8 Zetec engined manual. My questions is this; what is the difference between the 1.8 and 1.6 flywheels as there seems to be a big difference in price.....?
Cheers,
IanM

As long as they are are both zetec E there is no differance but the latter 1.6 zetec SE is totally differant.

You will want some flywheel bolts aswell as the ones for the auto flex plate are shorter.

If the zetec is from an auto boxed car then the housing for the crank position sensor also needs changing the manual engined type, the sensor itself is the same though.

Cheers

Hello Rich,
Yeah, I'd been told this was the case, I've got a new bush / housing on the way....

If you want a cheap lightened flywheel there's also the EFI CVH Fiesta RS Turbo or XR2i. They take the 220mm clutch and have all the CPS pickup points cast into the back of it. All you have to do is enlarge the bolt holes on it from 10mm to 11m and it fits straight onto the zetec. Is 2 kg lighter than the 1800 zetec Escort flywheel

I Have got a 1600 flywheel that has been modified to take a pinto clutch, you can have it for £25 plus postage. Kev

Hello Kev,
Sounds good... What's the mod? Sorry if that a stupid question...... So with this flywheel I just use a standard Pinto clutch plate and cover? Drop me a U2U with a posted price....
Cheers,
IanM
