Just got these parts back from BGH from the blow up last year....The new gearbox innards (E8) seem fine with the torque.

And this is one of my sprint front tyres after Goodwood

Need to stop locking the wheels....

Just a minor crunch

3rd gear has failed probably due to a stress fault
No reason why that above any lower gear just unlucky

Actually there is a very good reason 3rd fails....

Been there, done that, read the book, watched the film, worn the 'T' shirt. Managed it with a 4 speed single rail box in a Mk1 Cortina with a home brewed 1662cc Xflow pulling away from Rushden High street in 1982. Big BANG only had 4th gear after. Stripped EVERY tooth off of the input shaft gear.

Happy Days.

If you're going to break it, then break it good and proper

BGH tell me that the stock Ford 3rd gears are hardened all the way through and are brittle as a result. So high power cars break third....I now have there E8 box which has their gear set including 3rd.
