I have removed the engine and have found the gear box mounting rubber to be very sloppy
so my question in has any one made a improved version
I know i can by a westfield one but i would like to make my own

which kind of mount have you got just now - sierra or cortina ?

the cortina one is much stiffer and is also used by westfield and caterham (caterham are stock them and are quite cheap )
its mounting centres are a little smaller than the sierra one though

I had the same problem - unfortunately the Indy chassis is designed for the Seirra mount so you won't fit the Cortina one easily as if it is boled in at the same level on the horizontal as the Sierra mount the gearbox will be too high. Also, the mountin bolt centres are much smaller.

I eneded up using some spacers [threaded rod joiners iirc] and longer bolts to move it down and then a thick piece of bar to mount the Corting mount on, with a hole in the middle of it so I could screw up the single bolt that goes into the gearbox.

thats my plan got the dax too, but once its working I'll see if I can copy it into alloy billet on the milling machine

Hi Stu
before you fitted the cortina mount was you having trouble with the sierra one was the engine / gear box moving and banging on the chassis ?
i have hab this noise for some time

I was though in my case changing the gearbox mount didn't cure it, but did improve it.

The problem I had was that when MK modified the prop the put a huge UJ on the front that was far bigger than necessary and left about 3mm clearance on each side between the UJ and the chassis uprights in the tunnel.

I ended up chopping and remaking the tunnel as this was easier and cheaper than taking the prop out and getting the UJ changed.
