hi,
checking on mpg as the weather is improving, im only getting 21mpg, taking it easy, 2l zetec on esc ignition, cbr600 carbs, 1.5 m/m main jet, needle
as low as pos, air screws 2 turns out, any help appreciated, what you all getting, was expecting 30+ mpg, taking it easy.
thanks
andy
I get mid 20s, zx6r carbs with 1.9mm jets on a 2 litre blacktop zetec
What mix of driving are you talking about?
I get about 38 on normal road use with a 2.0 zetec on zx6 carbs. I have. Megajolt rather than ESC though. My jets are 1.6 km.

Blimey! I thought my ZX9R was bad, I get 20-25 driving on the limiter (well, most of the time) and around 30 poddling along in 5th-6th gear when
SWIMBO is in the copilot position.
I don't feel so bad now
hi all,
general driving of kit, same as road car realy, occasional blast from roundabout etc, crusing in 5th at about 50/60 mph, checked with afr meter
tonight, 16 ish (.100v lean) at tickover, cruise about 14.7 ish (.800v scoichish), wot about 14/12.5 ish (.900/.950), looks like i need to turn air
screws out to richen tickover, maybe increase jet size, that will only make mpg worse wont it, loooks like some of you are getting realy good mpg, can
i have some lol.
thanks andy
The ESC isn't mapped for a Zetec so that's not optimal for a start. Has the car actualy been on a rolling road to set up the carbs?

I have a 1.8 zetec on ZX9 carbs spirited driving returns me 30mpg this is with 2 litre cams in . I was getting 26mpg on a set of webbers. I thing you need the jets doing and setting op on a rolling road
Running a 2.0 Zetec with Fazer 600 carbs, 160 jets and Megajolt I was getting over 30 regardless of how hard I used it. Bimbling around usually worked out around 37-38mpg
I reckon its that timing which is a major contributor....
Plus the need to get on the rollers or a wideband o2 sensor
This is the main reason i took the twin 40's off my xflow, as i was lucky if i got 10-15 mpg
thanks for info guys, looks like i need to sort ignition, i new esc was not ideal, used afr to get roughly set up on carbs,
i have a 130bhp zetec ecu in wip, pre pats, not fitted yet, will get that sorted and fitted, then have another look at carbs.
andy
Aren't I the lucky one. 2 litre Black Top on R1 carbs with 180 main jets and Megajolt. Flat in every gear and don't care how many miles to
the gallon. The car weighs 460kgs all up.....I reckon that when the car was fitted with a x-flow it was doing about 10 mpg.
