F27 Zetec engine mount brackets

Hi everyone!

I have recently upgraded the 2 bobbin style engine mounts to solid mounts on my Zetec powered f27.

Today whilst sorting some bits out I noticed the engine was a bit lop sided, after investigation I noticed the bracket that attaches the mount to the block has completely sheared off, are these brackets available off the shelf or will I need to get another one made up? It looks like it was originally welded by pigeons and the metal used is ridiculously too weak for its purpose!

Any help would be great,

Cheers,

Liam

Suggest you take the bracket off and visit your local welding shop or there should be mobile guys who will weld on-site.
Failing that local scrappie?
Which Zetec engine? Maybe local Ford dealer can identify it to find out if it's available.
Cheers, Pewe10

It's not an original ford part, got a feeling it's a custom job, think the best route is get a stronger one made!

If you look carefully at the failure it you will probably see it started from a sharp notch, corner or crack/flaw in a weld.

I can't remember which of the great founding fathers of automotive engineering said "An ounce of rubber is worth a ton of theory" --- using solid mounts you are greatly increasing the amplitude of the load reversals transmitted to other parts of the mounting and the result was a fatigue failure.
