Locost - can you remove engine and box under the car?

Once the prop is removed, can you lift the chassis up to leave the engine and gearbox (xflow), or do you have to lift the engine n box out?

in the Haynes book it suggests you can do this with a pinto, depends how far the gearbox output shaft sticks into the tunnel I guess?

I would say yes, as I put my engine in this way (MK Indy with MX5 1600 engine). May have to remove rad and jiggle the chassis about a bit.

Cool. I will give it a go. Thanks Mathew

Are there any cross members in the tunnel under the gearbox tail shaft ?

If you can't, try putting the rear end up on ramps as this gives a better angle to remove engine and box from the top.
HTH.

There is a rear gearbox mount. Yes it will go out the bottom that's how I got my xflow.
