Silencers and CATS....
Jenko - 2/9/13 at 10:43 AM

What the general consus on what size of cat to use for IVA....I'm looking at purchasing my exhaust with an internal cat.

Engine is a 1.7 puma engine (standard, but with TB's).

There area few suppliers like westfield, who sell exhausts with internal CATS...are these generally good enough for IVA?.

Thanks.

Kitspares do a large silencer which can include a cat Kitspares Link

But I just used their small silencer then added a 400 cell cat from e-bay. Passed iva sound test at 99db, also passed on emissions but that depends on your management system.

The cat I got from ebay is Universal Exhaust Catalytic Converter Round 400 Cell 2"' 51mm Cat Mild steel the same as this although from a different sller.

Hope that helps

I have a Sigma 1.7 (1997) just passed IVA Lambda 1.015 Westfield 5" with internal CAT. The only comment is the Westfield part is not repackable (without a chop saw). I had the Westfield part lying about from another car so no brainer. These exhausts are readily available s/h because most Duratec owners change the westfield part to prevent hearing damage as the exhaust emits offside next to the drivers ear.
