Zetec

Right guys i have bit the bullet and bought a blacktop zetec for my tiger to upgrade in the winter from my old pinto. My question is how to fuel and fire it. I would love throttle bodies but will be to expensive and webers also expensive although may be poss as cheaper. I have been talking to dan engineering and they have put to bike throttle bodies or cheapest option is bike carbs?. Which bike carbs would i be best to use and power wise how would they compare to webers etc?. The ignition system seems a megajolt or nodiz as budget fitments that i like the idea of but have no experiance with any of them. If i was to fit kent cam upgrade to the zetec would the bike carbs still be any use? Any advise great trying to get a plan for winter put together and want to speak to people that have done this and see how they got on. thanks in advance Matt

do a search for threads by big_wasa - he went to a lot of effort making a guide on how to run the zetec on standard injection/management.

Here is a blacktop running standard injection using big_wasa's brilliant instruction, flew through IVA on emissions too.

I have a 2 ltr Black Top in my single seater race car. It is fitted with a set of R1 carbs on a DanST engineering manifold and fired with a Megajolt system by Trigger Wheels, who supplied absolutely everything needed. If you are in the area I shall be sprinting at Thoresby Park on Sept. 15th and you are welcome to come (free entry) and look at my set up. Alternatively see some of my pictures on Danst website. I used Zx9r carbs on my 2.0 zetec. Made a manifold for them and used megajolt. When set up it made 138 bhp at wheels.
Injection is far better for IVA purposes but if not required go with the bike carbs. Best to get them set up on a rolling road, its worth the expense.

Thanks guys for the replys it seems the mega jolt system and carbs seem to be winning. I spoke to bogg brothers today a very helpful guy with lots of advise and help. both dan and bogg bros do the kits etc and i think it is the way i will go. They tell me carb make not a problem as they just jet them accordingly so r1 or zx9 seem a good idea i thing. Just nice to hear from people with bike carbs they tell me dont need touching once set up and more drivable than webers and cheaper than throttle bodies?.
