What are the differences? Mazda engines seem rare and relatively expensive, whereas Jaguar S and X type plentiful and cheap,£180 for a 3litre S type
on the bay. Are there any differences in physical sizes between the manufacturers ( I am assuming they are all roughly the same engine?) and
capacities?

They are not the same engine - the Mazda lump is a lot smaller a d lighter than the Jag which is basically a ford duratec .
I've not yet payer more than £100 for an engine , there are cheap ones out there !

of the ford & jag variants, the jag has VVT so may need the stock ecu to operate, or at least a clever enough aftermarket ecu to alter the VVT.
