Evening all.

Today I nervously navigated my up to Broseley to get the Stylus on the rolling road, after doing what I could with it on the road. I needn't have worried as nothing went pop. The first part of the session saw Dale doing the idle + part load stuff, and within a short space of time it was already sounding much better. He identified a few issues with my setup which we did our best to fix, but I still have a small flat spot off idle where the throttles move before the TPS can register it, due to flex/slack/springs in the linkages. Removing the springs and drilling and tapping the link tabs to M4 (so the tabs are solid in both directions) is the way around this apparently, a job for the winter.

Full load wise it turns out my TB's are a bit small, and my packaging not the best for power, I have them angled over to avoid hitting the bonnet (pics in my archive show straight rubbers, but I had to change them for 45 degree ones). I ended up with 156 horses which is on the low side, and 156 ft lbs which isn't too bad. You can see in the dyno trace when the TB's run out of puff at about 5k rpm, the power doesn't go up a huge amount after that. We took the car out for a drive and it felt very different- much, much better on part load. It pulls nicely from low down in the revs, is quick enough to get me in a lot of trouble, and sounds awesome.

Dale reckons fitting Jenvey 45's would get me another 20 hp and sort out the low speed issue, but I can't afford it at the moment, and it goes like stink anyway. Spec is currently 2.0 zetec, GSXR600 TB's, ST170 injectors, standard Focus fuel rail and reg, Microsquirt and EDIS.

Anyway, thanks to Dale for making my car feel much better!

Very interesting to hear your results. I have the same spec but gsxr1000 TBS and MBE management. My car is in for mapping this week at Noble. Hopefully we can see how bigger TBS effect the power etc? Unless it goes bang lol

Hi Dave

I think you can definitely expect a bit more power- there was noticeable kink in the result that looked like the intake had choked at around 5k. Whether this was the smaller bodies or how they are angled (both?!) I'm not sure. Good luck anyway- I was quite nervous but it all turned out ok in the end! Let us know how you get on.
