1.6 head on 2.0 efi pinto
Eli3 - 29/11/13 at 01:21 AM

Hello
I know the question has been asked before. But I'm not really able to figure out a definite answer.
I have a 2.0 efi pinto. I want to assemble the head of the 1.6 Pinto. (Of course, make porting in inlet ports for injectors)
Is work?
Is valves touch pistons?
Do not have to replace Cam Shaft? (Was talking about 1.6gt reason)

What about valves clearance? Stay as they?

Tnx. And sorry to return ask

The 1.6 head has 38cc chambers
The 2.0 head has 48cc chambers
Therefore your compression ratio would be far to high for cast pistons and available fuel octane
The 1.6 head is inferior to the injection 2.0 head
There is in my opinion NO advantage in using this head

The goal is to raise the compression ratio.
I realized that I am going to 1:11.5. (Is it true?)
The question of whether everything will work?
Or need to make more changes and substitutions?

Atmospheric engine designed to remain (no turbo)

Cast pistons only safe to 10.5 to 1
It is generally agreed that raising compression is better by decking the block so pistons are flush to increase squish
However the cost of getting 1.6 head to flow as well as 2.0l injection head will cost a lot more than simply using a 2.0L injection head, skimming it and using a thin gasket
The use of 1.6 heads was a trick back in the days before 2.0l injection head was available

What are you hoping to achieve by swapping the head?

The 1.6 head does not flow as much as the Efi head, but this would only effect high rpm power, the advantage if the 1.6 head (fitted with the Efi cam) is the raised compression will help mpg and low down torque.

You will need to use 97/98 fuel
