Hi Guys,
I'm going to be installing a blacktop Zetec soon, only bits left to get are the fuel pump(s) and swirl pot.
It's going to be running on stock ECU without any mods to the engine.
I'm currently running an xflow, so i don't have any of the fuel parts i need for the Zetec.
So i know there are 2 options which will cause a lot of debate:
1. Bike style fuel pump with built in swirl pot
Would something like a GSXR1000 pump be ok?
2. low pressure and high pressure pump and a remote swirl pot
I think i'm ok with the low pressure pump, but what high pressure pump should i be looking for and what size swirl pot?
Thanks in advance,
Andy
I have a lift pump, 1 or (1.5) litre swirl pot and then the high pressure pump:

Hi Andy,
I use a GSXR 1000 in tank pump with a built in sump and fuel level sender. They can be had for reasonably cheap off ebay, and they're really
quiet too.
It's a clever system too, the pump has a fuel pressure regulator built in, so you don't need one further down the line and you don't
need a return to the tank. So only one fuel line running forward to the engine bay.
I've got a spare pump, but it doen't have a sender unit on it if it's of any help?
Regards,
Chris
Thanks for the info, i was thinking about a bike pump, have read a few threads which kind of rubbish the idea and say you should have proper pumps and
a remote swirl pot, but then have also read plenty with people using bike pumps.
If we don't need a return line back to the tank, what do you do with the return on the Zetec engine? Do you just block it off and is that a wise
thing to do?
I have a return to the tank - goes from the top of my swirl pot.
I'm using GSXR TB's with just an input into the fuel rail. So I'm not really sure what you'd do with the standard kit<
apologies, I should of read your OP more accurately.
Maybe someone else will be along to explain what you could do with the OEM fuel rail.
Chris
I would assume that even if the bike pump has a regulator, i can still just run a return line anyway.
If i've got a return it needs to go somewhere so could just stick it in the top of the tank!
Mine goes:
Tank
Lift Pump
Swirl Pot
Filter
HP Pump
Fuel Rail In
Fuel Rail Out
Fuel Reg In
Fuel Reg Out
Swirl Pot
Tank
That's with GSXR tbs using an ST170 manifold.
