how do sausage filters or sock get on with rain?
hootsno1 - 4/1/14 at 10:21 PM

Hi all
I'm looking at a filter for my ATpower itb's
my concerns are the filter will stick out of the bonnet. what i need to know is will it still perform in the rain.

We used to use foam filters on our hovercraft and soaked them in filter oil but they still went milky and blocked eventually.
Cheers!

Put them in an air box if you're worried

Airbox, cuts down on induction noise, cold air into the ITBs (assuming you have a feed from the front of the car) and no issues with water on the filter.

I think I may have to buy some smaller trumpets then, as the ones I have are rather long so a air box my stick out to far and look out of place

An air box shouldn't stick out any further than an air filter.

I'd run a sausage filter on there, a pipercross px600 base plate and filter, they do offroad ones too if your really worried about water

I wouldn't think you will be using it much in the rain to be fair, not after the first time out on wet cold roads anyway there a fair handful!

Between myself and the local garage with his TIG welder, I made my own after getting black flagged for noise at Combe. Designed to take a Pipercross 600 airbox filter.
