Swirl pot location

Hi guys,

Does it make much difference where you mount a fuel swirl pot?

I'm thinking its either in the boot with the tank, or in the engine bay.

Does either have any pros/cons?

Cheers
Andy

Mines in the engine bay, not sure if it's the best place as it can get hot under there so acts as a big heat soak.

Ditto - mine is on the base of the scuttle.

Mines just in front of the fuel tank

I'm getting ready to switch to efi and am wondering too where to stick the swirl pot.

I don't think there is enough room under the car nbetween the rear wheels, so I could loose some boot space and not be able to drop the side screens in, or I could put it in the passenger footwell, or I could move the battery into the boot or passenger foot well.. I very rarely have a passenger!

(when I got the car the previous owner had the battery in the boot for wrong reasons, but it is easily done, but again i will loose boot space.}

any thoughts? safety concerns/rules?

cheers

in case anyone wondered my own conclusion! I am going to go for sticking the battery in the passenger footwell, the swirl pot where the battery was.. There are several other posts re this and a bit more reading led me to the conclusion this is done and tested as ok. I think I will just be trying to do a bit of heat protection round the swirl pot and HP pump..

ha! I have just been caught out, I just had a PM as someone had seen this post.. In the end I won't be putting it where the battery is due to the fact that the bike TBs I am using are return less and the return happens near the tank, therefore having the swirl pot up front doesn't make sense.

Swirl pot up front means the high pressure side of the fuel system is only in the engine bay so a little safer from a fire point of view.
