Electric Reverse
Greenie - 1/7/14 at 07:32 PM

As the subject suggests this question is in regards to an electric reverse on a BEC.

Got my eye on a BEC, but the car has no reverse hence my question is how hard is it to fit an electric reverse, is it a DIY job for the winter and how expensive is it?

Just weighing up my options before committing myself.

I took mine off after 1500 miles. They work ok on level ground, no chance up a slope
Cost would be around £350-£400 + some mechanical skill. If you don't need to go through IVA I wouldn't bother.
I have only done around 600 miles without it, but haven't missed it. Make sure not to park facing down hill and there isn't a problem

I got a used engine mounted set-up much cheaper than new so if you keep an eye out you might find something.

Although now I think it was a waste of money because it never gets used... What engine is it? If it's a carb'd Fireblade I might have one for sale.
