Socket size for standard Zetec rod bolts?
DJT - 13/11/14 at 09:59 AM

Morning,

I'm just about to replace my 2.0 blacktop standard rod bolts with ARP rod bolts. I've got a 12 point 3/8" socket to fit the ARP bolts, but I'm not sure what socket is needed to remove the Ford bolts. It's a 6 point, but what is the size?

Thanks in advance,

David.

Pretty sure the Ford bolts are Torx like most fasteners on the Zetec. Certainly not an imperial socket.

Thanks.

Looks like one of the External Torx sizes (half way down this page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torx ). Need to measure the point-to-point to be able to calculate the 'E' size.

Why bother. Just by a set, you will use most of them working on a Zetec. Get a set of internal ones as well at the same time.

Got mine from Halfords, good quality, had them 12 years now and yet to break one.
