How do you check a dual mass flywheel? It's off the car!

Just bin it and get a solid conversion one.!

I believe check its general condition, if it rattles like a tambourine then possible that the springs have been over compressed and now allow more free play. I think VW states that the 2 masses should not be able to be rotated by hand more than 8 degrees. I've got to do the same soon so have read up on it a bit but am not really that experienced

according to an LUK poster on our workshop door the rotational play should be between 10 mm and 30mm with IIRC a max 4mm play rocking top to bottom if that makes sense. I have fitted a couple of solid conversions without any problems although I have read about broken cranks when solid flywheels have been fitted I haven't seen any myself or know anyone that has

I don't seem to be able to find a solid conversion? Where is best to look?
Solid should be OK on the duratec, but I don't want lightened on a cmax really.
