OK - Where to start? Firstly, what will be essential to keep. and what can be disposed of, e.g. via the 'Bay?
As a starter, I reckon the power steering and air con pumps can go. Looks like the inlet stuff is still attached, but will be checking over that later
this week.
Can you confirm whay engine you mean by a 1.6 blacktop, is this the focus/fiesta/puma zetec SE aka sigma, if so what age as later morphed into a
duratec vct version. (inlet on the passengerside in a rwd installation).
But typically, people junk the powersteering pump, aircon pump, you may need to do something with idler wheels to keep the tension with those gone.
Exhaust and inlet depend on the application and if it is the zetec SE then depending on rear bulkhead clearance you may needto look at the coil
mount/water manifold. Smaller alternators are also sometimes a swap item.

I'd be binning all the ancillaries apart from the Alternator and Starter motor.
What are you doing for fuel/air?
Carburetors?
Fuel injection?
Single throttle body or individual throttle bodies?
The exhaust manifold may be useable, in that I think they have a tubular Steel manifold, and can probably be modified to meet up with whatever system
you intend to fit.

Right - This example is a Focus Zetec SE 1.6. According to the seller, it was a replacement unit for the car of one of his customers. Previous engine
had suffered a critical failure. This engine outlasted the car, which had reached the MoT end-of-life status. Have yet to locate the serial number.
My plan is to use Kawasaki ZZR600 carbs eventually, and maybe run with standard carb initially, just to get running. No exhaust available, so
that's another item on my shopping list.
I've been referring to Paul Toyne's site (http://www.toyne.org.uk/zetec.html) for info re the Zetec installation. But I'm
always happy to hear from others who have previously installed a Zetec.
If the air con and power steering pumps are removed, the existing drive belt would then be over-long. Is there an alternative Ford part which could be
used?

1st thing to say is Paul Toynes site is based on a zetec rather than a zetec SE (otherwise known as a sigma). Two completly different engines in
everyway.
I used a puma engine in my build (basically the same engine as the 1.6), You can use a 'non power steering / air con' drive belt from a 1.25
fiesta. this will fit perfectly when the power steering and air con are removed. Re carbs....Honestly, I would go for Throttle bodies and be done with
it as you have all the sensors needed already on the engine.

The 1.6 Sigma engine is totally different to the Blacktop.
With the Blacktop you can bolt a type 9 strait on using the original Pinto or X-low bellhousing using a pinto or x-flow starter, all simple and cheap.
With the Sigma its far more costly using aftermarket parts.
Sumps for the Blacktop are available for sources such as Scholar for under £300 and are a proven product, sumps for the Sigma are more costly.
Out of the crate, totally standard with a pair of 45's the Blacktop will produce 165 bhp, with a set of throttle bodies its more like 175 bhp.
The Sigma needs quite a bit of costly work to produce this power level.
The list goes on.
But the Sigma is lighter and smaller than the Blacktop so is better in some applications because of this.

Early Mondeo/Escort Zetec-E engines = silvertop
These engine fit the standard ford gearbox bolt pattern, exhaust on passenger side (for UK RWD), iron block, ally head, one piece ally sump, hydraulic
lifters, 1.6/1.8/2.0 version, early versions (pre'95) do not need cat for IVA I think, removing the ac/PS pumps need to use a early escort non
AC/PS water pump (turns the other way)
Later Mondeo/Focus Zetec-R Engines = blacktop
Updated version of silvertop - solid lifters, two piece sump, 1.8/2.0l version (IIRC) - still available as new crate engines, need to think about
water pump direction, there are fixes out there for this.

Badged duratec but a basically a modified 2.0l blacktop with variable valve timing, better flowed head and stronger crank

I can probably supply you with a Lasercut inlet flange for making a TB / Bike carb Manifold if you like ?
I got as far as designing the flange, and also a flange to suit the bike carbs I had in stock too.
I`m not going to need them now, so If you wanted an induction set up, with an airbox etc just let me know ?
I have supercharged this engine for use in my Kadett
Eaton M45 Charger
Jaguar based Chargecooler brick built into a new inlet manifold
Pace Dry sump system etc etc
I also have a set of direct to head AT Power Throttle bodies in stock too, if I want to set it up initially NA

If you go down the bike injection throttle bodies I am using triumph tripple rs sprint ones (need two sets), these are almist a direct fit with a simple adaptor plate, similar to the jenvey direct to head ones. Pictures and dimension on my blog.
