Hi Guys,
I have a standard duratec that used to run just fine.
After a fast run back in the summer I noticed is was ticking over badly and almost stalling, then just catching.
Tickover varied between not much and over 2000 revs, it would sit there, revving itself.
I also noticed a change to the exhaust note, sort of nasel like and a bit of a smell of sulphur or something like that.
All this was just an inconvenience until I took it for its MOT today and it failed on high CO2 on idle, it should have been less than 3,000 but was
never less than 5,000.
Are there any Duratec experts out there who can work out what's wrong from my description?
Oh yes, and the ECU warning light came on on the way home.
Cheers
Mike
CO2 isnt tested during an MOT at present, do you mean CO?. makes a huge difference
Yes, CO.
Cheers
Mike
To have a CO that high suggest it is very rich -
I've been working on mine today and setting it up on bike carbs. My AFR is about 13.5 with a CO of around 1.9%
What is your setup? ECU? Throttle bodies or single throttle? Are you running a lambda sensor / closed loop?
I'm running a crate engine, totally standard and factory ECU. Ive just arranged to borrow a fault reader, hopefully that'll help locate the
issue?
My other car runs ITB's and Megasquirt, I can adjust that, but not this one......
Cheers
Mike
