This is the time i find out.if doing the swap acheived anything other than a project for me! It certainly on the motorway offered better mpg at 22.
10 to 15 with the holley. And also not too much oil leaked out in the guest house garage floor.

10 to 15 mpg! Oh my gosh. I knew mine would be bad (RV8 3.9 with a weber 500) but I was expecting over 20! Were you driving like a maniac or
running very rich etc?

price you pay for the v8 rumble

There is more power to be had there........have you done any head work or raised the cr? RV8 heads are rubbish and really restrictive......but with
the right porting can release a lot of power....
My 3.9 on a weber 500 puts out 234 at the wheels (4900 rpm) and 276 ftLbs (3800 rpm) ....sorry if this photo comes out massive
I took the engine as it was in the car and have just changed to efi. For a 3.5l, i still think this is pretty impressive, plenty enough for me.
Try the vid links again, i'm doing this on my phone and hopefully the google plus settings were just set to private. Hopefully public now.
I missed the fact it is a 3.5....doh!

Hmm, think I'd have been justified in putting the 2.28 bmw diff in mine and i certainly did better than 25mpg - got a proper 28 from 3.9 Range

Sadly it never happened as sold car to help fund extension. Diff was from either a 330 or 530 diesel and was £150 from Germany. Also had the shafts
and was gonna get them spliced possibly by same prop people i used.

On a more serious note what engine mounts are you using? I have the standard rover ones and it rocks about. Yours looks solid!

On the MPG thing, I get 28MPG on my 3.5 SD1 engine (~170 flywheel BHP) on a decent run.
I've got to say, I'd trade 20MPG for the exhaust note that your car is putting out! Fantastic!
Mine is not that different but somehow sounds less refined. Then again I'm still running on SU carbs with a fairly standard engine. Got me
thinking about upgrades now!

I once did the same with a rv8 in my old Capri.
The manifolds were made by Altiss Engineering.

The Chassis and engine mounting brackets are rock solid. I took my original manufacturer ones (the hole didn't line up with the engine mount holes in the engine - go figure?) and have them customised so they fit. The guy who did it beefed them up significantly. Its the Land Rover Mounting backers squishing I think. Some people on here have fitted a top mounting bracket with some sort of sprung metal or damper to prevent engine rock. Some people have suggested a Mountain Bike rear shock as the basis of the damping

Yes I used to hang around there a lot in the past.
I was trying to track you down in the past! Wilkinsj who had this idea and sold the bits to me was sort of copying what you did, well the theory that
it works anyway!
I got my manifolds done by bog bros, couldn't ger hold of altis

Altiss quoted a surprisingly small amount to build them yet they turned out to be a silly amount of work. I suspect Nigel might've not charged
anough. They were stunning in the flesh.
I gave up on them in the end. Induction isn't the limiting factor with rv8's, its their heads. I sold them and replaced them with a twin tb
carbon plenum and other bits.
I used the extra money to buy the Real Steel Merlin heads however, I realised cars were taking up too much time in life so sold the lot.
I'd plump for an lsx motor if I were doing the v8 thing again.
Here's the Reel Steel heads.
They'd be a very worthwhile investement along with a big cam.
