Took my 2007 Westfield for an mot earlier, failed on bloody emissions
It's a 2.0 silvertop zetec, 285 cams, head has been ported, jenvey throttle bodies, omex 600, non cat
Recent new plugs & new piper cross air filter
It failed at ..Co 4.68 % ( limit 3.5)
It passed on hydrocarbons ..120 ppm ( limit 1200 )
Ive bought a Forte fuel additive & intend to drive it a bit harder the next few days to try & clear it out maybe
Does anyone have any other ideas ?

I read somewhere that you can reduce the fuel pressure slightly and this will help - but maybe someone more knowledgable will come along to confirm

Turn tickover up so its at the max that is allowed for test (its 1200 rpm) that normally works for us
If it's on TB's and OMEX can't you just weaken the mixture at idle.
4.7%CO is very rich at idle especially with injection. Even with carbs1-1.5% should be possible.
Either as above, crap mapping or if it has a coolant temp sensor that could have failed?
Is a thermostat fitted ?

This engine in my old Mundaneo was a real pig to get through the CO percentile, and that was with all the standard kit, functioning correctly.
Apparently, this is not unusual, the reason Ford dispensed with it with the (then) new Euro regs.
Constant MoT issues, only helped by a very patient examiner, it's the reason the car was scrapped.
My 2002 Megabusa problems were solved with a fuel pressure reduction, the engine wouldn't pull from a few thousand rpm, but it did get the green
bar on the MoT display.
I now have a Q....

Do I need to turn the screw anti clockwise to reduce pressure ??
