Fan control, switch or ecu?
sdh2903 - 5/12/15 at 04:17 PM

Hi all.

I'm just about to order my alloy rad and the supplier has asked if I would like a fan switch supplying with it. What's the preferred option for fan control? A simple switch or ecu controlled?

My car is an mnr vortx, mx5 1.8 engine which I'm 95% certain will have a small turbo hanging off it. Ecu is a megasquirt pnp.

Cheers
Steve

i would go for switch controlled (i prefer switches over ECU controlled stuff anyway)
at least if you have a hole fitted for a switch, you can use it or not, its your choice later down the line. if you want it ecu controlled, all you need is an old switch to fill the hole.

id say have the boss fitted anyway

I'd take the switch, then you still have the choice whether to use it or the ecu.

Mine is currently ecu. I Will be making it switch and ecu this winter.

Belt and braces? Have seen more than a few witches fail causing overheating so a back up system is a good idea

Ecu control with overide switch.
