I'm fitting a type 9 sierra gearbox along with a zetec in to my Dax Rush.
However a few years ago I bought what I was told was a type N gearbox from a P100. This visually looks identical to my type 9 gearbox.
Is it worth getting it reconditioned as a spare or are the internals completely different?
As far as I know the Type 9 is sometimes referred to as the Type N however not all Type 9s are the same and do vary slightly depending on what application they have come from. These difference may not be obvious at first glance. Most people are aware that there is a difference between boxes attached to 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder engines but there are other differences as well.
P100 variant has very low ratios not worth using

It has the long first motion shaft along with totally unsuitable ratios
