I've gone and committed the mortal sin, I left rubber parts in carb cleaner. Now they're as baggy as my twenty year old Y's...
So, any idea where I can get some new o rings from? I am told they are 1.5 x 8.5, but have to be fuel resistant. Anyone got any recommendations?
cant help with the O rings and not sure about the image in my head of 20 yr old Y's either..... lol
Leave them out to dry out they'll return to their original size.
Cellulose thinners has the same effect, ask me how I know, mine went back to normal in a couple of days.
Since I've used a wintergreen oil and cellulose mix to soften old jap bike carb rubbers, the celly carries the oil into the rubber then
evaporates away.
I'm pretty sure they need to be Viton O rings, they are fuel resistant ( I think)
Ah yes, Viton is the term I needed! Thanks everyone.
I was tempted to leave them and see if they dry out, but to be honest they're as old as the bike (1997) so they could probably do with a refresh.
Hmm, I soaked my zx9r's in thinners and they were wrecked! Had to go on eBay for a new set....
I cleaned my carbs in coca cola, seals in all,
