I don't quite understand what it is you want to achieve Dave... could you explain a bit more?

I'm assuming you're asking about whether the supply is good enough to run the dash gauges from or whether you'll need a regulator in there to control the voltage etc?

If you're running a standard car engine with alternator, you should be able to get away with just putting a fuse in-line and wiring them up - most alternators give a clean enough supply.

Most modern clocks are fine. I've got CAI/Smith guages which are OK, as are VDO. But earleir Smith guages do need a regulator. Check the donor if using older guages.

Fit old style capillary/bourdon temp & pressure gauges and you don't need any electrics except the tachowiring and instrument ligts.
