Right, I'm having a bit of trouble with my coolant system

I have removed the std bike pump and fitted an electric pump, also I've taken the centre out of the thermostat.
The problem I'm getting is if I run it as it is in my drawing it sucks air down the two bleed pipes into the system, the pump sounds rubbish and
the extra air in the system causes the water level in the header tank to rise,
But when the pumps is switched off it bleeds the air back out and the level drops to where it was at the start,
If I clamp both the bleed pipes shut where I have put an arrow and a *, then re run it, it runs perfect with no air and the water level in the tanks
stays still
I don't really know why I went with a header tank over the standard exspation tank, but I could change it over if this is going to work better
Also the pump seems to shift a lot of water, and originally I thought this was why it was sucking air, but I've fitted a speed control to the
pump and it still sucks the air on its slowest speed

Ps what height is your header tank? Is it above the radiator top hose?

And yeah the tanks higher, if I take the bleed hose off the top of the rad, coolant runs out
got your bleed pipes in wrong position because of pump bleed pipes in front of pump it will pump the water out behind pump will suck air in if pump to
powerfull probably have to go for a sealed sytem to cure it

Here's the water pump sucking from the lower rad hose
Top pipe from top of engine to top rad hose, also you can just see the pump lower down, also bleed hose of top of the rad
Header tank t'd into lower hose running from the pump to the low input on the engine
think you will need a pressure rad cap with expansion and draw back feed

Or can I block off the bleed points on the stat and rad top, and block off the pipes on my header tank and just run it like that?
I think I would fit the inline filler neck then just shorten the bleed pipes then fit air bleed pips to them to ease filling

IMHO you only need to make sure the bleed lines are under water at the tank so the pump doesn't pull air.

Well had another look today, I've blocked off the two bleed pipes at both ends and I'm just going to use the header tank as the filler neck so to speak, runs Sweet like this, if I get any problems I'm going to make a new header tank that's taller so the two bleed pipes are under water I think,

System is fine except feed from header tank should be on intake six not pressure - relocate and it will work fine no need to d anything with bleeds etc
