Fitting an air box and remote filter?
David Jenkins - 14/6/16 at 03:16 PM

I've decided I've got to do something about the intake roar on my bike carbs - it's louder than the exhaust when on full throttle!

At the moment I have a home-made air filter box over the front of my CBR600 carbs, as there wasn't enough room to fit a commercial filter without cutting the bonnet.

My thoughts were to make a similar box without the hole for the filter, but with a hose mount at one end. The hose would go off somewhere to a remote filter - type unknown at the moment. The problem is that there's very little room around the engine, and nowhere obvious to get cold, fresh air. I can't get past the radiator into the nose cone, as it's a snug fit.

So - any suggestions? Or examples of other installations? It's a x-flow, BTW (if you don't recognise it from the photos!).

Cheers...

That's why I built a plus 4.

Room for a 4 inch duct down to the nose cone.

On a more serious note;

don't forget that a 7" x 1" duct carries just as much air as a 3" pipe.
Do you have an inch of room beside the rad?
