Just saw a Youtube video on this by Christian von Koenigsegg. Looks very interesting no more camshafts but I'm guessing very expensive. Sorry if it has been mentioned before.

Very old idea it was around pre-WW2. Post WW2 Tucker tried to do something similar but using hydraulics but had to give up and adapt the Franklin helicopter engine for car use. The electric idea is looking viable again because of tightening emmision rules.
