I bought my chassis complete with engine, gearbox and driveshafts... unfortunately the guy who started building it had not properly primed and undercoated the chassis.
so... the centre tunnel is rusty as all hell.. and really hard to get a wire brush in there, cos the drive shaft is in the way.
so, how hard to remove the shaft, so that i can clean and paint the tunnel?

i reckon the easiest way is to remove the diff, rather than take out theengine, and slide the propshaft backwards, as the flange on mine (that botls to the diff) wont go in from the front end - i dont think im making much sense, but hope it helps.

I think it depends on the Engine and chassis. Normally to remove the prop shaft, you just remove the 6 bolts on the diff and pull it out of the Gearbox... BUT if you have a solid floor (i.e. the tunnel is enclosed) you've got a problem, you would have to take the engine and gearbox out. you might be able to extract it by removing the diff, but I'm not sure on that.

on mine its just the 4 bolts, and drop it out. Nice and easy. Next easiest is with the diff out, provided that there is clearance to pull the prop out of the back.

Don't forget that when you pull the propshaft out there'll be a steady drip of oil out of the back of the gearbox! Or there should be...
