R1 Carbs - Connections Q2
Dick Axtell - 20/2/17 at 03:28 PM

Once again I seek information from those who have already fitted R1 carbs to their engines.

Checking my R1 carbs in more detail, I noticed these connections, 1 at RH end, the other at LH end of the bank of carbs.

Since I've also located the fuel inlet, at the bottom of this carbs assembly, I guess that the 2 connections, shown here, are for water heating (when installed on the original bike). Am I correct in my assumption?

some bike carbs have a de-icing circuit which would have been connected to the cooling circuit so could be that

Chris - Thanks for confirming that.

Pretty sure they aren't connected up on UK supplied bikes, just colder country's

But yeah as above they are for coolant to stop icing

and of course you don't want warm air entering the engine on a warm summers day....
