Hello all,
I'm currently in the middle of fitting a Duratec to my Sylva Riot and will be modifying the sump.
Before I take the sump off and start hacking away, the questions I have are:
- If I do need to modify the oil pick up pipe, how easy is it to do?
- Is it plastic or metal? My google searches have showing me a lot of conflicting images.
- Has anyone on here modified the pick up pipe on a Duratec before and if so do you have any information or pictures?
Many thanks to any information anyone has.
Stephen
It's plastic. Just need to chop it with a hacksaw then clean up any rough burs with a file and sandpaper so no loose bits drop off. Measure the depth of the sump from the engine block then cut the pick-up pipe so it's about 5 mm from the bottom of the sump.
Excellent!!! Thanks for that Furyous, really appreciate it.
If it helps you, I have a stainless LoggyBoy designed sump ready to go. I changed my plans, so it's surplus to requirements.
It's gated, and fitted with the dip-stick pickup pipe. I've got a chopped pickup pipe as well as a new one to go with it.
drop me a PM and I'll send you photos if you like. It could save you a lot of hassle.
